Delhi High Court Refers Trademark Dispute to Mediation

In a bold departure from traditional litigation, the Delhi High Court has referred the trademark dispute between Crompton Greaves and Orient Electric over the ‘Stylus’ mark to mediation. With the consent of both parties, the matter has been referred to the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre.

This move highlights the judiciary’s growing confidence in alternative dispute resolution as a swift, cost-effective, and collaborative solution for complex IP disputes. By opting for mediation, both parties stand to benefit from reduced legal expenses, minimized downtime, and the preservation of key business relationships.

This decision not only signals a potential paradigm shift in how corporate disputes are handled but also serves as a reminder that innovative legal strategies can pave the way for more constructive outcomes in today’s fast-paced corporate environment.
